Philippa Davies is an inspirational performer who is an international soloist, chamber musician and guest principal with the major orchestras. She is a wonderful teacher who launches conservatoire students on successful careers and also knows how to get the best out of adult players.
This course provides a rare opportunity for amateur players, teachers and early professionals to enhance their skills dramatically.

Have fun while making progress in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. The emphasis is on workshops and group playing, rather than playing solos in masterclasses. Workshops will include breathing, tone and other technical aspects of playing and performing.
The ever increasing repertoire for flute chamber music will be explored, for example this wonderful arrangement of Ravel Alborada del Grazioso (arranged Gudrun Hinze)…
The morning comprises two sessions, with a break for coffee. After lunch is siesta time, when you can laze by the pool, walk in the woods, rest, play or practice. The final session of the day is after tea and before pre-supper drinks. We make our own entertainment at Cubertou and there is lots of opportunity for ad-hoc playing after supper.
A highlight of this course is the recital given by Philippa Davies and Jan Willem Nelleke in the local church at St Martin le Redon, details to be confirmed.

Please arrive afternoon/evening on the Sunday (after 15:00). There are no formal activities on the Sunday… just settling in.
On the first day light refreshments will be provided from 16:00 and supper will be at 20:00 (and saved for late arrivals).
The course ends after breakfast on the Saturday. You are invited to ‘build-your-own’ pic-nic at breakfast time to take on your journey.
Philippa Davies is a first-rate virtuoso flute player who performs recitals and concertos around the world and is a regular recording artist. She is also an excellent and inspirational flute teacher and professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Philippa will be assisted by her wonderful regular accompanist Jan Willem Nelleke.
Superb home cooking and local wines are provided and refreshments are served throughout the day. All meals and refreshments, including wine, are included in the course price. We welcome vegans, veggies and meat eaters. We can cater for some (but not all) allergies and intolerances, please discuss these with us before booking.
